B

BARK OR VEGETABLE TANNED Leathers which have been tanned with vegetable materials that are derived from certain plants and woods.
BELTING LEATHER For the manufacturers of leather belts for transmitting power in machinery. Made from the butts of high grade cattle hides.
BUFFED Leather which has been smoothed or sueded by mechanical sanding.
BACKPACK A handbag designed to be carried on the back. But, unlike a backpack used by hikers to carry camping necessities, this type of handbag is a standard handbag size and made to carry the necessities most women require. This type of handbag is worn on the back and practical because it leaves the carrier's hands free, and it is more secure from being "snatched" in public locations.
BENGALINE Bengaline is also known as ribbon. It is a fabric with a crosswise rib made from any combination of rayon, nylon, cotton, or wool. It is often used for tie closures, or edge trims for bags, belts, gloves and hats.
BOAR SKIN Made from the hides of pigs. It has a fine, smooth texture, and is very durable - used to make many types of fashion accessories.
BOTTOM FEET Knobs attached to the bottom of a stiff sided handbag (or piece of luggage) that it stands on when not being carried. They are usually made of metal or plastic. Bottom feet also function to protect the contents of the bag when it has been set down on a wet surface or ground, plus they help keep the bag from undue wear and soiling along the bottom exterior surface and edges.
BOX BAG A small to medium size handbag with hard sides with a box like shape.
BRACELET HANDLE A handle made in the shape of a closed circle, like the circular shape of a bracelet.
BROCADE A brocade is characterised by raised designs or patterns within the weave of the fabric.
BUCKET BAG A type of soft-sided handbag shaped like a bucket with a round bottom, and is longer in height than width.
BUCKLE A clasp that fastens two ends of a strap to each other. The clasp attached one of the ends holds the other end with a catch. Buckles are used on handbags to make a shoulder strap adjustable in length, or as a fastener to secure the top of a compartment or side pocket.
